La Dolce Vita, Shrewsbury

Our philosophy:

Authentic Italian food - traditional quality - freshly served

We use only the freshest and finest quality Italian ingredients and are also proud to support local growers and suppliers that enable us to create unique dishes that give you a true taste of Italy.

Chef Gennaro AdaggioOur regular menu features authentic yet thoroughly modern dishes from around Italy to meet the highest demands for classic dishes while our Gourmet Evenings allow you to experience fresh culinary ideas developed by our innovative chef, Gennaro.
Each dish is freshly prepared to order to deliver a traditional quality that characterises our dishes. Our passion for food and drink ensures that we deliver maximum authenticity. It would be an understatement to say that we take great pride in every dish produced.

Ristorante vs. Trattoria vs. Osteria

For those of you interested in Italian dining, you may come across establishments called an Osteria, a Trattoria or a Ristorante and ask "What's the difference between a Ristorante, a Trattoria and an Osteria?"

In the past the differences were more pronounced but here's a quick breakdown:

  • Osteria - used to be an Inn in Italy where travellers could eat, drink and lodge for the night. An osteria today is a modest place to get food and drink. Osterias often sell local wine.
  • Trattoria - is a casual ristorante and generally less expensive. Trattorias are often family run and serve local and seasonal dishes.
  • Ristorante (Italy's top category of dining establishment) - is more formal, offers better service and in general is more expensive.

La Dolce Vita is a Ristorante but with less emphasis on the formal - you will not be able to order a pizza (if you want a pizza, then try a Pizzeria), but you will experience a taste of Italy that cannot be matched anywhere else.

Note

  • All weights quoted are approximate and prior to cooking.
  • We are happy to cater for any special dietary requirements - allergies or people affected by celiac disease - just let us know when booking.
  • Since all our food is freshly cooked to order, please allow our chef time to do so - we are not an Italian fast-food restaurant!
