Luigi, Patricia and Gennaro Adaggio

After living in Italy for fourteen years we decided to bring authentic Italian cuisine to Shropshire and run our own restaurant in Hill's Lane, Shrewsbury, which we called La Dolce Vita.

It was September 1999 when La Dolce Vita opened its doors to an unsuspecting public who didn't realise that "authentic Italian food" was something other than just pizzas and spag bol. Each dish is freshly prepared to order, using only the finest authentic ingredients, prepared and freshly cooked with a simplicity that will delight even the most discerning of tastes.

Luigi is front of house and there is always a very warm welcome to all our guests - he greets everyone like a long lost friend.

Patricia learnt all her skills alongside Luigi's family in Italy. Gennaro studied food and catering at Radbrook College and developed a taste for winning awards when along with Gemma Dimelow and Peter Jones, Gennaro represented Radbrook College in the Nestlé Toque d'Or competiion - winning the Best Dessert, Best Coffee heat. Over the last 10 years we have really enjoyed the whole experience of introducing a style of dining out in a friendly and relaxed environment which lets you feel as though you are eating Italian food, prepared by an Italian chef, in a restaurant in a neighbourhood in Italy. During this time, we have built up a loyal band of regular customers but we also love to see new faces and hope they will become regulars too - we hope to see you soon!

Gourmet Evenings

We regularly hold Gourmet Evenings to celebrate the best of Italian cooking and to show another side of La Dolce Vita – the world where our award-winning Chef, Gennaro Adaggio, is given free rein to design and prepare a selection of unique dishes - such as foie gras ice cream or pigeon breast with pear pureé, pear and sambuca salad and liquorice sauce.
